Directions to Flemby Forts
From Tralee: From the Tralee Eastern bypass take the exit for N22 to Killarney / Cork. Drive 5.4 km and take the right turn signposted Flemby L10636. Then follow the directions further below.
From Castleisland: Take the N21 road from Castleisland for Tralee. At the John Cronin roundabout (before the Earl of Desmond Hotel) take the first exit and drive until the T junction onto the N22. Turn left, drive 100 m and take the right turn signposted Flemby L10636. Then follow the directions further below.
From Killarney / Farranfore: At the railway crossing in Farranfore set the odometer to zero and drive 10 Km / 6.2 miles NW to the turn off for Flemby signposted Flemby L10636. Then follow the next directions below.
Flemby: You are now at the entrance to Ivy House, which is immediately on your left after coming off the main N22 road. For Fort 1, do not drive up to the school. If you see the school you have driven too far. Continue through the two stone pillars marked ‘Ivy House’ onto the driveway to Ivy House. The entrance to the fort is past the house and on your right. You can park near the white sign for the fort.
For Fort 2, continue up the L10636, past the school until you come to the first house on your left. You will find the entrance to the fort on the bend directly after this house. There are 2 gates, one big and one small. The entrance to the fort is through the smaller gate.
